In our many years of business, we have had the pleasure of working with amazingly talented realtors, brokers, loan officers, investors, and a lot of others who have helped shape the industry in Florida as we know it; and this is why we are proud to be able to present a space in which all of these incredible people can tell their stories!
Please meet Alma Betancourt, our first feature! An experienced broker with a demonstrated history of working in the real estate industry. Skilled in negotiation, business planning, marketing, sales, and international business. With over 10+ years experience in Doral, Coral Gables and Aventura, we wanted to hear more from her!

- So, Alma, please tell us: what year did you get into the real estate business?
I'm one of those weird persons that became a REALTOR in the middle of the crash. I have been a Real Estate Agent since 2010, and a Real Estate Broker since 2016.
- And what areas do you specifically concentrate on?
First of all in Residential Real Estate, but my main niche is International Real Estate Investors. Of course, I handle any type of transaction since I am both, a Residential and a Commercial REALTOR, but due to my background and a Master Degree in International Business, it's been natural for me to focus my career toward international potential buyers, interested in invest in the United States, moving later to general globalized activity.
- We all know that sometimes, a deal can get a little bit too hard to close, how do you react when something like that happens?
As we all know or should know, each REALTOR should develop a strategy of preferred vendors or team to work with, in the most reliable and proactive way. Unfortunately, sometimes, clients come to us with a pre-established idea and it is not only difficult but against RESPA rule to insist to convince them of another idea... meaning change Real Estate Service Providers.
I'm a very structured agent, well organized, and sorry to say it myself, very knowledgeable, so when that happens to me, I always think "Oh God... this will be a difficult one", not knowing the team I'm going to work with, it is always full of surprises. Some of them can be very good surprises, as it happened the day I started working with Juan Ayala from Regal Group, but some others REALLY BAD SURPRISES. When something like that happens, and the deal gets delayed or even at risk to be lost, we, REALTORS, need to get hands-on and take care as much as possible of the situation to avoid losing the deal. That is the way I react. I get my hands dirty and work towards everybody's goal TO CLOSE THAT TRANSACTION. If needed, I will help the Lender, the Title Company, the Inspector, the Insurance Broker, everyone. Of course, I can't do their job, but I will help in any possible way. Losing a deal it's NOT just a deal; It's about my good name and reputation.
- You have been living in South Florida for over 20 years! now! What do you like so much about it, and what is your favorite area to live in Miami, and why?
Well.... that is a tricky one. I have lived in this country for 22 years now. All those years I lived in Miami, but a year ago, and after a not so pretty divorce, I realized I could live anywhere I really wanted, so I moved. Now I live in Broward County, Hollywood Beach specifically... in a beautiful apartment ON the beach.
Why? Well... aside from being a dream come true; although apartments or condos might not sound like the best investment in Real Estate, right now in South Florida, for me is more a future investment perspective. It has always been that way. A property on the beach could be or IS a fantastic property to live in at any age, but in case one gets tired of it, it can be a fantastic income source as a seasonal rental property. After all... this is South Florida... we live where everyone wants to go on vacation.
